1 John 5:11-12 NASB

“And the testimony is this, that God has given us etenal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

Jesus should be the enter life source of our lives. In John 15, Jesus clearly says that without Him we can do nothing. That is both reassuring and devastating. We so often try to strike out on our own and do things in our own strength and we usually end up failing miserably. The good news is, when we fail (not if), we can always come back to Jesus and return to the strength only He can provide.

It doesn’t really matter what your experience is, or even what you think you are good at; all that really matters is what Jesus gives you the power to do. God has called each and every one of us to do something significant. You were not created for mediocrity, you were made to be a powerhouse in the Kingdom, but you have to be willing to go outside your comfort zone.

When we operate in our comfort zones, that is when we make mistakes; but – more importantly – nothing amazing is ever accomplished because we are doing what we can do and we need God to do what only He can do. People say, “be the change you wish to see in the world”, and while I don’t disagree with that, we need to be making the changes that God calls us to make. If our efforts are based in striving and our own performance, we will be like a cartoon character with our legs flying, but no forward motion. But, if we rest in Jesus, the One who can do all things, THEN – and only then – will we begin to see the world change.
